EB Neuromuscular & Sports Therapy - Cayman Brac
What is Neuromuscular & Sports Therapy?
NMT utilizes specific massage therapy, flexibility stretching, and home care to eliminate the causes of most neuromuscular pain patterns. NMT enhances the function of joints, muscles & biomechanics (movement) and it releases endorphins, the body's own natural pain killers. Our professional therapist has over 10 years experience and has a large range of skills in many forms of muscular release and pain management and is qualified in trigger point therapy, dry needling, taping & strapping procedures and soft tissue release, all of which help you, the athlete, to overcome muscle & joint strains, sprains & injuries.
Regular NMT treatments can also help healthy athletes. Even if you are not experiencing any noticeable muscle aches, NMT has been proven to help improve many athletes performance by aiding muscle & joint function and mobility, increasing blood flow & oxygen, powering muscles to their optimum strength & flexibilty. Regular treatments promote healthy muscle function and thus aids in the prevention of muscle injury.

Benefits of Neuromuscular Therapy
The principle physiological benefits of NMT include pain reduction and relaxation; two important benefits that can keep you healthy and competitive over time. Sports-related pain can result from a muscle strain, a contusion or bruise or excessive use of a muscle. Overuse of a muscle or muscle group may result in delayed onset muscle soreness (DOMS). NMT will increase blood flow, increase lymphatic drainage (speed up removal of lactic acid from overused muscles), breakdown scar tissue, realign muscle fibers and impove flexibility.
The psychological benefits of sports massage include a reduction in your approach anxiety, enhanced feelings of invigoration and rejuvenation. Approach anxiety, which is the anxiety you feel about and upcoming match or event, is a common part of sports participation. The simple act of having your body worked on can give you a psychological edge that reduces your anxiety. The restorative effects of massage therapy and the corresponding psychological benefits are crucial for your continued athletic success.
STR
Soft Tissue Release (STR) is a hands-on Deep Tissue Manipulation Therapy for dramatically speeding up the healing process (and shortening the rehab time) of muscle and tendon injuries. It’s different from other methods in that the muscle or tendon is pressed on at the same time the muscle is being either actively or passively stretched.
MET
MET, the muscle energy technique is a non-invasive method of manual therapy. It helps with relieving pain, fixing joint issues, and improving a person's range of motion. It is based on reciprocal inhibition, which is a theory that describes how muscles react. Based on reciprocal inhibition, the muscles located to one side of a joint relax when the muscles on the other side of the joint contract.
The first muscle contraction in the muscle energy technique is referred to as an isometric contraction. This simply means that the muscle is made to work at a fixed length, even as tension builds. The idea is that each contraction will stretch the muscle further.
TRIGGER POINT THERAPY
Trigger point therapy is a bodywork technique that involves the applying of pressure to tender muscle tissue in order to relieve pain and dysfunction in other parts of the body. Sometimes massage and trigger point therapy are performed together.
Please contact us for more information on how we may help you overcome muscle and joint pain or discomfort and improve range of motion and flexibility.
We have an excellent success rate with Chronic and Acute Injuries and hope that you can't benefit as others have in the past.
